Destin 2014!

We haven't been on a big vacation since before Harrison was born, so this year we decided we would make a road trip to Destin, Florida.  Harrison was super excited about going to the beach.  We went to Galveston when he was just over a year old, but he doesn't remember.

Sunday morning we left fairly early. They were excited!

We stopped in Winnie, Tx for some lunch and stretching. We had made a few quick stops before.

That night we stayed in Baton Rouge. Usually when we're out of town, we try to eat somewhere new.  But...  the kids were tired of the car, so the closest stop to our hotel...Texas Roadhouse.

Luggage cart shenanigans.  We got back on the road fairly early Monday morning.

Destin!!  We stayed at the Luau hotel on the Sandestin Resort. We loved it. Everything about the whole resort was wonderful and very family friendly. The beach was just a quick walk from our hotel, so we went straight to check it out.

The bayside of the resort had this awesome little area called Baytowne Wharf. It had plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. We went there almost every night for dinner.

Harrison chose to ride the racecar on the carousel.

Tuesday- first full day in Destin. The kids LOVED the balcony. We had a corner room, so our balcony was huge.  They spent a lot of time just checking things out. It wasn't soon after taking this picture that Harrison fell and scraped both knees and elbows.

We laid pretty low Tuesday because Harrison was pretty upset about his scrapes. We went to lunch at Fudpuckers. Kinley enjoyed watching the alligators.

Harrison just wanted to play.

He sat in water on one of the toys at Fudpuckers.  Pantless.

After naps, we decided to give the beach a shot. Kinley wasn't so sure about the sand. Harrison had a blast once he got over his scraped knees.

Ready to go to Baytowne Wharf for dinner!

Driving a toy boat in a little pond.

Sweet kisses.

Wednesday- pool day!  We spent a lot of time at the pool. They had a perfect little kiddie pool that we spent a lot of time at.

Worn out after swimming.

After naps, we went to Jolee Island to play on the pirate playground.

And then back to Baytowne Wharf for dinner and ice cream.

Kinley's first carousel ride. She loved it.

Thursday was kind of gloomy so we went to the Gulfarium.

By the time we left there, the weather had cleared up, so we went to Pompano Joe's for lunch. Our table overlooked the beach.

After naps, we want back to the pool for the afternoon.

Friday we got up pretty early and got on the road. We stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel, and the kids did a little rocking.

We stayed in New Orleans that night.

Saturday morning we got going pretty early again and made it home that evening.

It was a great vacation!  Overall the kids did great, and we look forward to taking them many more fun places!

Sea World and Wildlife Safari

A few weeks ago we went with some friends to "Baylor Day" at Sea World.

We left Friday after Tim got off work. Harrison entertained himself with sunglasses (in the dark) and the iPad.

The hotel we stayed at was showing a movie outside when we got there. The kids watched from the balcony.

Sea World ready!!!

Watching the beluga whale show.

Just hanging out and sportin' her first big girl ponytail!

Sesame Street Bay of Play- this kids loved this area!!  Harrison ran around like a crazy man the whole time which is why I don't have any pics of him playing.

Kinley napped during the Shamu show.

After a long, hot day at Sea World, we did some swimming and has dinner.

Kinley and Taylor really took to eachother. They played throughout dinner.

The next day on our way home, we went to the Wildlife Safari.  Harrison "drove" us through the safari.

Neither of the kids were too sure about the animals coming right up to the car.

It was a great weekend!  I'm pretty sure we will be taking advantage of "Baylor Day" every year!
