Harrison's 1st Vacation!!

WARNING: Long post with tons of pics!

Tim and I love San Antonio.  We've been at least once a year since we first started dating.  So when we started talking about where we would go this summer, we decided what better place for Harrison's first vacation than San Antonio!

We left Monday morning at Harrison's naptime so he would sleep most of the way to Austin where we would take a break, eat lunch, and do a little shopping.  Harrison enjoyed his first kid's meal from Chick-fil-A.  He ate grilled chicken nuggets and cinnamon applesauce.  He LOVED it!  He was shoveling the chicken in his mouth by the handful!

After a couple hours in Austin, we decided to head on to San Antonio.  We made it to San Marcus and had to make a stop to deal with this...

Luckily, Tim found some shade in the San Marcus Visitor Center parking lot, so he wouldn't melt while taking care of the flat.  Harrison enjoyed being able to get out of his carseat and do a little stretching.  After about 45 minutes, we were back on the road to San Antonio!

Once we made it to the Hilton Hill Country Hotel and Spa, we got checked in and decided we would do a little swimming.  (I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone with or without kids looking to vacation in San Antonio.)  They had the perfect size pool for Harrison.  It was a zero entry pool and it only got about 18 inches deep.  They also have a bigger pool, but we spent our time at the kiddie pool.  Harrison had a BLAST!

We swam for a while, got cleaned up, and went to eat at Pappadeaux.  Harrison devoured some ravioli and peaches while Tim and I enjoyed some delicious seafood!

We set up his pack 'n' play in the living room part of our suite.  That way he had his own room like at home, and we didn't have to go to bed as early as he did.  It worked out really well.  So well, in fact, that he slept until 8am Tuesday morning!  He's usually up at 6:45, so that was a nice way to start of vacation!

Tuesday morning, we lounged around the hotel room for a while.

We practiced fish faces...

 and played with the remote.

Then we were off to the Riverwalk!  Harrison enjoyed hanging out in the stroller and watching people as we walked around.  We went to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch.  Harrison was pretty entranced by some of the animals.

Once we got back to the hotel, Harrison did some walking around and carrying things.  Yes, WALKING!  He is walking about 95% of the time now!  And he LOVES to carry things as he walks!  Then we went to spend the rest of the afternoon at the pool.

"I'm not doing anything wrong."

"I'll take care of the sunscreen, Mom."

Just another afternoon lounging at the pool.

Wednesday was the day Tim and I had been looking forward to a long time!  We were going to SEA WORLD!  We have both been to Sea World before, but it had been a loooong time.  Plus, we were so excited to take Harrison there!  We knew it would be super entertaining for him!

Watching the dolphins.

He loved it!

 Shamu show

He also loved Shamu!

He crashed right before Elmo Rocks and slept through the whole thing.

I know this probably would have been his favorite show if he had been awake!

Playing at Sesame Street Bay of Play!

Can you tell he loves the water?!

Hanging with Cookie Monster.

Watching the sharks.

We spent about five and a half hours at Sea World.  By that time, we were all pretty hot and tired!  It was sooooo much fun though!  When we got back to the hotel, Harrison took a pretty good nap and then we went back out to the hotel pool for a while.

"Come on!  I'm ready to swim!"

"How am I going to get this into the pool?"

Thursday, Harrison was up at his normal 6:45am, so we got up and going pretty early.  On the way home he slept a little, played, and slept some more.

I think this was the best first vacation this little guy could have!  He didn't nap much for those 3 days, but he was still his normal, happy self for the most part!  I can't wait for our next vacation!

Once again Harrison really had no interest in taking pictures today.  It took me taking pics three different times to get these 11 month pictures!  He is just too busy!

As you saw in the last post, Harrison is walking!!  He is pretty much cruising around whenever and wherever possible!  He still crawls if he wants to get somewhere fast, but if he's not in any hurry, he walks.  He isn't quite good enough to walk in shoes yet.  He will try, but it's definitely harder for him.  He won't really walk in the grass.  I don't think he likes the way it feels.

Harrison LOVES being outside!  When we ask him if he wants to go outside, he gets so excited!  Since summer is in full swing and the temps are steadily climbing, he is usually in the water when he's outside.  He has recently discovered opening and closing doors.  He has closed me in his closet numerous times when I've been in there putting up his clothes.  He's babbling and understanding more and more every day.  He waves to everything and everyone!

Baby food is a thing of the past!  (Aside from the fruit purees we add to his cereal in the mornings.)  He either eats what we're eating or he eats toddler meals from Gerber.  Some of his lastest foods have been grilled cheese, grillin' beans, cheesy chicken and rice, waffles, asparagus, goldfish, and cinnamon raisin bread.  He LOVES it all!  Thank goodness he's not a picky eater!

I'm not sure of his 11 month stats.  I think he's still probably between 20-22lbs like last month, and I know he's gotten taller because some of his shorts and onesies are too short.  He's cutting
6 teeth right now!  Amazingly that hasn't made him too grumpy.  He's been a little more clingy and fussy, but nothing extreme.

Next up... Harrison's first VACATION!!
