18 month well check

Yesterday Harrison had his 18 month check up. Everything went great, aside from his typical I-hate-coming-to-the-doctor attitude. He didn't want to stand on the scale, so we had to sit him in the chair scale. He hates that too. He screamed and refused to sit there long enough for his weight to process. It does take a while though. We ended up having to get my weight and then get my weight holding him. He weighed 24lbs 13oz. Then came time for checking his height. He hates this too. Luckily it's a quick process. He is 33 inches tall.

Dr. H was running a little behind, so I did my best to keep Harrison occupied in the office. We drew on the paper on the patient table, put together puzzles, read, watched Madagascar, and checked out all the animals in the room. Dr. H came in and Harrison immediately stuck his bottom lip out. He is just not a fan of being messed with or being held still so he can be checked out. I asked the doc when this stage of not liking the doctor will pass, he said he wouldn't be surprised if it last until he was 5 or so! So we have a long road ahead of us! I was a little concerned about Harrison's weight because he seems to be going through a picky eating stage lately. Dr. H assured me his weight is fine. He said he is just a long and lean kid, and he will probably always be that way. He also told me not to worry about his picky eating. He said it's a phase, and he will grow out of it. Thank goodness! Otherwise, Harrison might turn into peas or a chicken nugget. Those are definitely favorites right now. He was due for one shot. He wasn't happy about that, but by the time we got back down to the car, he was dancing in his stroller!

Harrison doesn't have anymore mandatory doctor visits until he is 2! And, he is done with immunizations until he is 4! He still needs to get a flu shot every year until then though.

25 weeks down, 15 to go

Monday marked 25 weeks into this pregnancy. Currently Kinley is about 13.5 inches and 1.5lbs. We had a our monthly appointment yesterday. Everything is right on schedule. She has a good, strong heartbeat and my tummy is measuring right as it should be. My gestational diabetes screening will be in a couple weeks. I don't look forward to that nasty drink. Next month will be my last monthly appointment, and then I start going every 2 weeks! These last 15 weeks are going to go FAST!

I'm feeling good most of the time, and my energy is back for the most part. I'm at the tail end of a pretty yucky cold, but thankfully I'm feeling much better. Heartburn and getting comfy at night are pretty much my only complaints at the moment. I have a feeling Kinley might be active like Harrison. I feel her moving ALL the time just like I did with him!

We are planning to start working on the nursery this weekend. This requires cleaning out our guest bedroom and putting the stuff into storage. We're hoping to make a decision on nursery furniture and get it ordered sometime in the next week or so. Once the furniture comes in, the decorating process will begin! I'm looking forward to decorating!

18 months old!

Harrison turned 18 months old today. I consider this a pretty milestone birthday, so we celebrated with chocolate chip cookies after dinner and staying up a little later. He loved it!

At 18 months Harrison is becoming more and more a little boy every day. He loves being outside- running, riding his bike, swinging, checking out leaves, etc. He is obsessed with balls and sports. If he sees someone playing a sport on TV, he runs to get whatever ball he sees on TV and tries to copy what they are doing. He still enjoys bathtime and playing with his bath toys. We have a hard time getting him out of the tub every night. He loves animals and anything about animals. He has really started to enjoy building and stacking things. He loves to build with his legos and knock them over. He likes to roll his cars and trains around on the kitchen floor. He likes to put all kinds of things in his Elmo backpack and carry them around. He loves bubbles. He will ask several times a day for us to blow bubbles. He likes to dance and listen to music. My mom got him an Elmo CD that has songs with his name in it for Christmas. We listen to it in my car on the way home every day. If I forget to turn it on, he points to the radio and says "Elmo." He still enjoys reading books. Especially ones with animals. He has started to clean up his toys if we ask him. Thank goodness! I have been looking forward to this day!

He is becoming more and more observant every day. He watches what we do and listens to what we say. It's amazing how much he understands. We find ourselves spelling things often just so he won't know what we are saying. We will really be in trouble when he learns to spell! Just in the last few weeks, his vocabulary has really started to increase and he has started to try to repeat what we say. I think he is just too busy to talk. He'd rather be on the move!

Lately, he has become very opinionated on what shoes and shirts he wants to wear. I usually let him pick his shoes, and I sometimes give him the option of 2 shirts. He is also very opinionated when it comes to Tim or I doing things for him or with him. He wants Tim to bathe him, and if I even start to run the water, he will try to pull me out of the bathroom. He wants me to clean him up after dinner and change his diaper most times. He wants us to sit in certain places in the living room and the kitchen.

He doesn't like calming down to go to bed. He's still not a fan of the carseat. He has become somewhat a picky eater. He doesn't like to sleep late. He's definitely an early riser. He hates to come in from playing outside.
